*
LIKE BRIGHT FIRE IN THE DARKNESS,
Or like Winter in the Spring,
Like a burning fever of the heart,
Just what next will this life bring?
*
I’ve seen well into the darkness,...
And I’ve witnessed searing light,
I’ve lived when death surrounded,...
And stepped low from dazzling height.
*
Like song when in the stillness,
Or like silence in a war,...
Like a pause in a great battle,
Step through waiting destiny’s door.
*
Now bear haste when in the calmness,
And hold joy,... in sheer despair,
Give an ear to strange new voices,…
That you hear when you are there.
*
Like clear sight unto the sightless,
And sweet sounds unto the deaf,
Like speech upon the speechless,
And great waves above a reef,...
Experience majesty,....
And the everlasting presence of mystery.
*
Now give thought unto the thoughtless,
Or give truth unto the lost,
Show love now toward the loveless,
Where life’s barriers scarce are crossed.
*
Bring relief unto the painful,
Or some hope,... for abject poor,
Provide rest unto the weary,
And true peace,… forevermore.
*
Give some time unto the timeless,...
Bring fresh water unto thirst,
Like drink out in the desert,
Give real thought to what is first.
*
Now bring taste unto the tasteless,
And some rain where it is dry,...
Set our hand upon our daily task,
For the worthwhile,… we must try.
*
Set my pen unto the paper,
And my heart upon the Word,
Having patience for my fellow man,...
Gone to flight the soaring bird.
*
Send a breeze unto the windless,
And a chance, now,... for us all,
Some kind words unto the lonely,
Though we stumble oft,... and fall.
*
Give new help unto the helpless,
And fill now,... someone’s cup,...
For the richness of an average day,
That we all might soon look up.
*
Maybe wheels to spin the wheelless,
And some brakes unto the quick,
Give some trust now toward the trustless,...
Those convinced,… it’s all a trick.
*
Give a wink unto the winkless,
Lend a hand,... where it is due,
Point the young into a happy life,…
Till they see life,.... through and through.
*
Grant some life unto the lifeless,
Touch the world now with your love,...
As I pray among the prayerful,
And ask blessings from above.
*
Leave this world a better place, now,…
For the eyes of life will see,
How we’ve handled this life’s journey,
GIFTS BESTOWED,.... ON YOU AND ME!
